The management and treatment of waste is often relegated to the lowest strata of society. Only recently have we discovered the value we can generate from waste.

What if the processors of waste are given the tools to extract value from it?

Inclusive Waste Recycling

Wastu is Social Enterprise formed in 2016, with the mission to empower waste pickers in Pune.

​

Wastu makes products from waste PLA plastic, which are flaked and injection moulded into sets of joints and rods, which can be put together by the waste pickers to form various products for sale.

​

The wastepickers are duly compensated for their labour by having a share of the profits that the company makes. 

PLA plastic flakes are made by feeding cleaned and sorted shampoo bottles, oil bottles and cleaning products through a a shredder.
